Where's Waldo... I mean Karl!
As part of the Alex Janvier exhibit opening at the National Gallery of Canada on November 25, Karl and Ivan filmed the masterpiece "Morning Star" at the Museum of History. Mesmerizing colours and design. How did Janvier and his son paint this in 4 months!?!!

in the making of this behind the scenes video with Slalom Production’s crew on the Motel Monstre set. We did drag Phillip Grondin, Roland Marckwort and Andreas Borrel out from behind the cameras to share with us their impressions of Affinity’s new Sony F55s and a few other newly acquired pieces of gear. Don Wallace shot and edited this video - thanks to all for letting us turn the cameras on them!

An empty office at Affinity no more! Vanessa Peral is breaking in her new desk as a producer in the Affinity Production Group family. Taken under the wing of Jamie Banks, this dynamic duo will soar above the mountains… of production papers slowly building up on that new desk. Although seemingly quiet, Vanessa's curiosity and enthusiasm will have her footsteps heard throughout the office and beyond...
Karl's Excellent AdventureMarch 25 2014
Friday March 7, I met with one of the Amira design engineers, and he generously spent almost 2hrs showing me the Amira, and a little bit around the Arri facility. The r+d area was locked and off limits however! Impressive set up as you would expect, in that German - efficient way. I like that. Guys busy about the corridors and stairwells with Alexa XT and Amira prototype bodies, paperwork in hand.
The Amira I saw was not set up in a showroom, but in their offices with software programming underway. The camera was set up next to a new MacPro workstation running a new bit of software called Arri Colour Tools, fur LUT building … very intuitive and will be a great compliment to the camera, and a welcome update over the current Arri LUT builder. I had a thorough overview of the menus and features, and here is the interesting bit: I believe the Amira is a a better camera than the Alexa. In the past three years since the Alexa launch, there are new components, allowing for light weight design and deeper capability. There is also a possibility of anamorphic capability, since the Amira has a 4:3 sensor. Sporting a Cabrio, a LMB25, and a v-lock battery plate, the new balance hardware is welcome, and the whole kit is very comfortable.
The Amira is on schedule, and promises to be the hot camera of 2014. Glad we are .... (to be continued)

Making us blush...March 16 2014
My name is Ashley Newton and I am in the one-year Scriptwriting program at Algonquin College. Today is the last day of my writing internship here at the Affinity Production Group, and I have nothing but nice things to say about my experience. I started interning in mid-January, and have been working under the advisement of Jamie Banks. Jamie was more than willing to let me learn as much as I could during my time here, and I learned way more than I ever imagined! I got to sit in on some production meetings, voice recording sessions, and even had a hands-on experience revising a script for a video production. I have met some incredibly dedicated and talented people who have been very accepting of me and nothing but happy to show me the ropes of what this industry is all about. It is without a doubt that the Affinity Production Group utilizes pride and care in their professional services, and this experience has been very valuable to me. There is still much for me to learn in my future, but I feel that Affinity has prepared me for that future and will always be a place where I can feel welcomed and part of the team. For what I know now, I thank the team at Affinity for accommodating me and letting me learn as much as I can in the short time I had. I will never forget my experience here, and will take it with me for the rest of my life. Thank you for a positive experience!
