POST PRODUCTION SERVICES
The region's most versatile post-production workshop
Affinity's Post-production department maintains the largest concentration of professional video edit suites and workstations in the region. We have three Avid Nitris DX Media Composer suites, one Avid Nitris DX Symphony suite, and three Final Cut Pro Studio 2/Kona 3 suites. Common software tools on all systems include Adobe CS5 Master Collection, Episode Pro and FCP Studio 2. We provide still and motion graphics creation, encoding to MPEG-2 and H.264, every flavour of Quicktime, Windows Media and Flash, as well as Blu-ray and DVD authoring and mastering.
Formats and Fiber
Format support includes Alexa, RED, HDCAM, XDCAM-HD, XDCAM-EX, NXCAM, AVCHD, DVCPRO-25/50/100, HDV, DVCAM, Digital Betacam and Betacam SP. Our central equipment room supports decks, drives and servers for every one of our acquisition formats and makes them available to any one of our edit suites for ingest and mastering. All systems are linked to our 24TB Facilis Terrablock fibre-channel NAS with fully-mirrored data protection, as well as gigabit ethernet and 10Mbps fibre access to the internet. All workstations and data are protected by a combination of client, central server and ISP firewalls, security procedures and backup systems. For efficient and secure collaboration, Affinity’s post facilities are fully integrated with our motion graphics and animation colleagues at 27Forty Studios, the audio post team at Atomic Audio and our IT consultants at Bithurler.

At Affinity, we encourage our editors and graphic artists to utilize the full range of software and hardware tools available to them, creatively combining elements from multiple NLE and graphics systems to achieve the best results.
5k Workshops
Affinity’s latest projects are generating many terabytes of glorious 5K RED EPIC footage. To meet the challenge of processing this mountain of data, we have significantly upgraded our RED workstation’s capabilities. The system now provides real-time 1080p HD playback to a Sony PVM-2541 OLED monitor using dual RED ROCKET cards with REDCINE-X PRO for fast first-light colour grading of even 5K footage. The dual cards also greatly accelerate the batch export of Apple ProRes or Avid DNxHD files for proxy, HD or 2K workflows. Another new addition is the Avid Artist Color control surface for added speed and precision in grading sessions. This versatile device works not only with REDCINE-X PRO, but also Avid Symphony, Baselight AVX, FCP Color, DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Speedgrade and more.
